Firstly, you should have finished reading your second independent reading selection. Instead of the book covers you made last time, I'm going to have you fill out a form about what you read. The link is below. There is another activity for you to complete after you have done this, so you will need to come back to this page and keep reading. Independent Reading form
You need to find your next Independent Reading material and check it out today. Here are the requirements this time.... It has to be 10 full pages of text and you HAVE to enjoy it. Yep, it can be on any subject you choose. If you need help brainstorming things to read fill out this form Brainstorm something FUN to read.
Once you have finished your Independent Reading Activity, you are going to research epitaphs and then create two of your own in the style of Spoon River. Firstly, you will need to go to the websites and look at some epitaphs. On a piece of paper either handwritten or typed, I want you to find at least five epitaphs that you find interesting, funny, or sad. Your five epitaphs need to come from at least three of the websites. This paper with five epitaphs will be turned in for a completion grade. Once you have done this, you are ready to start brainstorming ideas to write your own epitaphs. To do this, go to the epitaph form and fill in the information requested. These two people need to have some kind of a relationship (married, dating, siblings, parents and children, anything).
After you finish everything and TURN IT IN, if there is any time left I expect you to begin reading your fun, exciting independent reading that you just found.
